Recruitment and Vetting Policy

How we recruit, check and appoint trustworthy, qualified staff.

Our commitment

The people we place on client sites are trusted with property, information and, often, the safety of others. Barbarian Facilities Management Limited therefore recruits fairly and carries out thorough checks before anyone starts work.

Fair recruitment

Vacancies are advertised openly, described accurately and open to all applicants. Selection is based on skills, experience and suitability, in line with our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Pre-employment checks

  • Proof of identity and the right to work in the UK
  • A valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence for any licensable role, checked against the SIA register
  • Screening of employment and education history, with any gaps explained, following recognised security-industry screening practice, normally covering at least the previous five years
  • Basic or enhanced criminal record checks where the role and the law allow or require them
  • Satisfactory references and, where needed, credit or other checks relevant to the role

Induction and training

New starters receive induction, site-specific training and, where relevant, refresher training. We keep licence and training expiry dates under review and do not deploy anyone whose licence has lapsed.

Data and fairness

Information gathered during recruitment is handled in line with our Data Protection Policy. Candidates are told what is checked and why, and may discuss the outcome of any check with us.

Review

We review this policy annually and when legislation or industry requirements change.
